About Me

What's my story?

I was born and raised in Busan and my journey as a designer started when I was 5 years young and my passion to draw surfaced. Almost at any given moment, I was with a pencil and sketchbook in-hand drawing my favorite subjects, which at that time were Korean subway trains (I have no idea, don't ask).


Within the decade that followed, I moved to Canada and my interest in art and design evolved with the times through different mediums as technology continued to push forward the tools we use to express ourselves creatively. My pencil and sketchbook eventually became a mouse and computer and I self-taught myself Adobe Photoshop in the early years of junior high. I started my dive into the never-ending depths of graphic design and have been in a constant pursuit to level up my craft, understanding, and abilities ever since.


I have 15 years of professional experience in graphic design and marketing, and more recently, have accumulated a handful of years running my own creative agency in Vancouver, BC, Canada with a personal specialty in brand strategy, identity development & design, and visual communication. However, my position has given me fluency in executing front-end web design, digital marketing, and even some product design. In those many years, I’ve had the privilege in working with a wide range of industries and types of projects. I even started a clothing brand during COVID


As a lot of my early corporate experience and client work coincides so closely with marketing initiatives, I have come to appreciate how good design directly influences the effectiveness and success of marketing campaigns - I approach design as objectively as possible to help clients reach their goals and solve problems. I continue to stress the importance of well-designed landing pages, ads, email blasts, and other marketing design touch points and how they cohesively work together to drive success and build brand equity.


Working in a Creative Director position in my own boutique agency has not only allowed me to cultivate my technical skills in many creative and design softwares, but it has also given me the ability to look at design, branding, and visuals from a more critical perspective. Design is something that goes beyond just making something that looks nice; it's about building a unified experience across all touch points of the brand, to elicit a common feeling in your consumer-base. It is a more intangible concept that I've had to learn how to relay to my clients, as good design and visuals are often criminally under-appreciated when it comes to their value in business.

Spearheaded the processes and projects for creative, branding, and technology across the core pillars of the BID Marketing Division including Channel Marketing, Corporate Commercial Team, Aspire Membership Program, AI Initiatives, and the Innovation Team.

Alleviated dependencies on internal company agency while elevating quality of creative and brand-related projects - saving the division 6-figures in budget and an average of 6+ months in delivery and turnaround times every year.

Launched a complete visual refresh of the Aspire Rewards membership program across social platforms and internal and external digital tools and dashboards, leading to a more engaging user experience for members.

Led the efforts in revamping both new and long-standing Aspire reward items and their designs - leading to YoY increases in reward redemptions.

Led the creative direction and execution on the annual global c-level decks including visual branding, infographics, animations, and custom illustrations.
